Hop Sing Chinese Restaurant in Essex

Can’t review without giving at least star, and would have given it a negative. Just wasted $40 on the worst Chinese food we’ve ever started to eat. Tasteless, over-priced. Fried rice looked like oily white rice with water-logged shrimp. Kung Pao was the opposite of spicey, and beef tasted old. Chicken overcooked. White rice was dry. Best thing about the meal was the hot mustard, oh and throwing it away! Terrible terrible terrible.

SAVE YOUR MONEY GO ELSWHERE Food was terrible, especially the crab rangoons that were still ice cold in the middle, generally portions were disappointing. Food was very sub par will not be returning

I come here twice or 3 times a week to eat with my Wife and our Son, the owner is a amazing guy!! He is always working so hard.. they have the best food. I highly recommend Hop Sing to everyone! Great food! prices are fair and portions are big. One of my favorite shops to get take out from. Seating is minimal maybe 4 or 5 tables 2-3 chairs each.

I ordered the wonton soup for the first time tonight. It was delicious and fresh! Veggies were plentiful and loved it. The Hot and Sour soup is also packed full of good stuff and spicy. Very good on a cold night, thank you!

Portions are very generous and its some quite tastey food.

Very good food, probably the best I’ve had. So why only 4 stars? Because I ordered Sweet and Sour chicken, I got the chicken but not the sauce. Of course you do t know this until your already home. I could go back and get it but damn it, I’m in my jammies.

We drive over an hour just to get in on this action. We pass many other Chinese food places on the way, because they don't even begin to compare. It's amazing.

Consistent good food, almost always friendly (but never been treated in a rude manner) and good prices. Only thing I don't like about this place is how long it took me to start going here, as I lived around the corner for a few years before I started coming. Better than other places in the greater Burlington area I've tried.

My family has been going here for like thirty years. Always amazing food and always hot. Some days spicyer than others but always delicious.

Hands down best Chinese in the area! I moved here 3 years ago from MA and it’s been hard to adjust not having multiple “good” options for Chinese food. Have tried many places and I would say it’s a good option for take out. There is only a few chairs and would never eat there but Prices are reasonable and the food is solid. Def give it a try!!

General Tso chicken was delicious. Chicken low main had little flavor and little chicken. Friendly and fast service.

Great folks and great food

Order sweet and sour chicken and get a little duck sauce for 8 chicken and and an egg roll. Ask for a extra little duck sauce and always a fight and is an extra cost. Food is pretty good but the service sucks.

Keep this place in business! Their prices are so cheap, food so delicious and portions extravagant. If they go, one of the best Chinese places in Vermont goes with them. For 12 bucks you get great taste that lasts for multiple meals. Just give them a 20 instead though. Nice staff too!

Horrible service. Was never greated when we walked in. Woman behind counter was extremely rude when I asked if I could do an order of veggie Lo mein with tofu instead of meat and a drink. She insisted it was "too many options" unless I got a combo.There is tofu on the menu.... so in don't see the problem.So I said sure make it a combo and grabbed a drink. She then asked , "sir you didn't order a drink". I replied, isn't that what a combo means?.Don't waist your time here.

They were very polite which was great. I ordered around 845 pm and they were open til 10. Food was hot except pork fried rice which seemed it had been sitting for hours. I ordered chow mein and lo mein and asked for lo mein to be spicy. Unfortunately the chow mein came spicy and was terrible. I may think twice the next time.

I got the chicken and broccoli and it lacks flavor and doesn't seem to have any sort of sauce on it, and the chicken tastes old. I wouldn't pay for that again. The only thing preventing this from being a 1 is that the broccoli was better than most chinese restaurants.

They put a lot of work into making this delicious food from scratch. They have me hopping and singing for more every time I feel the hunger set in.

I used to live close by Hop Sing and would eat here a lot. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the service is always prompt and kind. For your typical Chinese-American food they do it right here, and I've never had anything I didn't like. Prices are on par with what you would expect. 8 Dollars for a combo meal and it's enough to feed you twice. I wouldn't certainly recommend Hop Sing!

When I first moved to Essex this was one of the best places for Chinese food. The quality of the product has deteriorated so much. They will have to change again for me to ever go back. This negative review covers 6 different menu orders.We always order as a group.

Place was great. Clean seating clean kitchen. Had combo plate general tsos with pork fried rice and boneless spare ribs. It was amazing. My friend had the sesame chicken, crab ragoons and beef teriyaki sticks. They said was also Great. The people were really nice as well.

I have been going here for years and in my opinion it is some of the best Chinese Cuisine around! Very inexpensive, large serving sizes and family owned and operated, what's not to love! Always so friendly and fast service.

Personally I’ve had a lot of different Chinese meals from different restaurants. Hop Sing is the best Chinese Restaurant around my area. When I go and pick my food up they make me feel so good and give me first class service. I recommend to eat there 500% satisfaction guaranteed.
